Its funny sometimes when you're talking to someone, and they mention that before they really got to know you they had a completely different opinion of you, or that they heard random things about you that weren't true.... sometimes that's funny right?...Sometimes it's not.
It's really important to get to know someone on their own, without listening to the judgmental people in the world who will tell you false things about them.
Story: a couple days ago I was talking with a guy I quite like, who actually likes me too. While talking he told me that he heard from someone that he needed to stay away from me, and to be careful around me, because I'm not a good person. He refuses to tell me who told him this, and it frustrates me. After telling me this, he said he just needed to make sure I was a good person because he doesn't want me to bring him down. I totally understand that that would be a concern of his, after hearing from someone that he needs to stay away from me. I figure the person that told him this has a personal vendetta against me because I honestly have no idea what they were talking about. It's very frustrating to find out that people see you a certain way, that is completely opposite of how you are. And it bothers me that someone would be so judgmental. I've now also been freaking out about who said it because i want to punch them in the face.... he wont tell me who told him that.
It is very important to formulate your own opinions about people and should not rely on other peoples information to determine what kind of person someone is. That is judgment based of nothing, and its completely absurd.
This goes for all things. Its important to try things out for a while before developing an opinion on them. I had just moved singles wards and was very upset, because I loved my old ward and Hated this new one. Today in church, something changed. I really like my ward now. Im not sure what made me change my mind exactly but im much happier about the change. Some things take time to like, and somethings you just need to try out. And then with people. you just gotta get to know them. dont let other peoples views of someone affect how you view someone.

You are Special
To women and girls of all ages!!!!
Has anyone read the book, "You are special," by Max Lucado? It's a childrens book, but it's appropriate for all ages. The story is about a little Wemmick, named Punchinello . A wemmick is like a little wooden puppet. Wemmicks spend their days trying to show people how amazing they are in order to receive gold star stickers from their neighbors and friends. A wemmick could be given a gold star for many things- for being talented, or having lots of freinds, or being beautiful, Wemmicks would even give a gold star to someone because they had lots of gold stars. Wemmick also gave out little gray dots, when someone was less than amazing at something- a wemmick with chipped paint would receive a dot, one who tripped a lot, one who didn't have talent, and like the stars, sometimes you would just be given a gray dot because you had lots of gray dots. Punchinello was not the most talented, he didn't have amazing paint, and he tripped sometimes. The wemmicks loved giving him dots, his body was covered with them, All he wanted was just one gold star, he wanted the other wemmicks to think he was special at something. One day,he met a beautiful girl Wemmick, and he was sure she would have stars all over her because she was so pretty. But she did not. She had no stars at all, No dots either for that matter. Punchinello was so confused. So he asked her why she had no stickers. She told him that she didn't care if she had stickers or not, so they wouldn't stick to her. She told punchinello that she would go visit Eli, the puppet maker everyday and just talk to him, and learned how to make the stickers not stick. Punchinello took her advice to go visit Eli. When he went to see him, Eli picked him up, and told him why the Stickers dont stick to the girl. Eli told him, that the most important thing that mattered was how He feels about himself and how Eli felt about him. HE told punchinello how he makes every wemmick special, all unique and different, and all his. Eli told punchinello that he thought he was special, and that was all that mattered. Punchinello realized how right Eli was, and after that, a dot fell off. He would continue talking to Eli everyday after that, and soon enough later, all of his dots were gone.
This story is amazing! My retelling does not do it justice, go read the whole thing. it's fantastic.
The book is a metaphor for the Love Heavenly father has for all of his children. He has created all of us and we are all beautiful. An amazing woman in my life used to tell me "you are special, you're a divine creation of God, and God don't make no junk!!!" It's so true, it always reminds me that when I put myself down, I'm putting down one of Gods children, who is very special to him.
It is my dream, once I get married and move back to a family ward to serve the young women. All young women, regardless of race or religion, or size, or talent, or anything are beautiful, and they are loved and cared for. And I want all of them to realize it.
I hope you realize your divine nature as a daughter of God and embrace it to the fullest.
